Hello all!
My fiance and I are thinking about moving to Elkins. We love the area, but we didn't know anything about healthcare jobs. I work in the clinical laboratory and he works in bio-medical. Thank for any info
Hi, first and foremost I would like to say Hello and encourage your move to Elkins. It really is a great place to live and work. The hospital in Elkins is called Davis Memorial Hospital, which is a part of the Davis Health Care system which operates a few other local hospitals and clinics. I've their links below. Also Elkins, has many physician offices. Anything to do with medical is a great bet in Elkins.
Just want to put in my thoughts about medical jobs, the hospital campus has grown a lot since i moved here 5 yrs ago, and it will continue to i'm sure. a woman's health center, labs, and other specialty buildings are in the area. Buckhannon, about 40min or so away also has hospitals/medical care, etc
After a lot of searching, I have decided that Elkins is the place I want to be. I live in NC now and hope to be able to make my move within the year. I am retired and want to find a home in the country, someplace that is out but close enough to town to do my shopping. Does Elkins have any rural areas or would have to move to the outskirts? And if so what areas would you recommend I look into. Thanks so much for any help....

You can be within a rural area in just 10 minutes or so from downtown Elkins so that shouldn't be a problem. Basically look in any direction and you can have peace and quiet in just minutes. We live about 15 minutes outside of Elkins near Alpena, or the Bowden area.
If you have any more questions don't hestitate to ask!
