... I love to see new cities/towns because then when I hear about them on the news, read about them, etc. I can have a visual of them.
FYI: When you get off I-79 toward Elkins, you are going to skirt Buckhannon. It is the county seat of Upshur County. Bkn population is about 5,000, the population of Upshur county is about 24,000. The reason I mention this, regarding reading about places in the news, etc:
In Jan 2006 the eyes of the world were on Buckhannon but mostly on a tiny tiny community 5-10 miles from it called Sago. (Personally, I was glued to CNN and Anderson Cooper). You may remember seeing this:
Yes, I certainly do remember that!! I wanted to watch as much news about it as I could. It was so sad when they said there were l2 survivors when in fact it was only one and he was in pretty bad shape. Any updates on him lately?
Where ever you go this fall...eat some Buckwheats...thats a great tradition and a great flavor on the palate...with real maple syrup and some homemade pork sausage...one of the very best breakfasts in the world...
Dangit! More food on the brain.. Just what I need.
Wife and kids away for two weeks in the Rockies... Now I know what I have to do. Defrost 2lbs of that homemade sausage and mix some buckwheat cake batter up.
Send out the invitations 3-run...I'll be back from DC on Thursday...Queen Victoria dined on Buckwheats...a royal treat! Certainly good enough for the peasants...

If you have the time, the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville is pretty spectacular. It's on US 19, near the intersection of US 60, about 1 - 1.5 hrs east of Charleston.
