One thing for sure we all know that McCain voted with Bush for this Appalachian expansion, Perhaps he wants to join us? To be protected from the Obama tax expansion!!!! Maybe Palin will give us Alaska? That way we will have control of coal, gas, oil, gold and moose burgers for all in the Appalachian take over!!!!

We could call this new land 'Bushes Folly...
What it has is the most valuable product for the entire planet...water.

In the future, all of the water resource will be above price...at the present time...a gallon of this stuff is at $11.22 at $1.39 a bottle...think about it...this is the most valuable piece of real estate on the planet...war will be fought for this parcel of land...or we will give it away in a reckless election...

Hmmmm.... and eight of those water sources have their headwaters in Pocahontas County!

Maybe the new capitol of Appalachia should be in Slaty Fork, or Frost, or maybe we should bring Old Spruce back to life.

Notice that while our economic problems are always blamed on corporations, greed, capitalism, or a mysterious "business cycle," the solutions are always presumed to come from government. When the economy falters, the public clamors for the government to do something- and when the economy does well, politicians take credit for the good times caused by their sound economic policies. This reflects the pervasive attitude in America that government should "run" the economy.

But should government run the economy in a free society? Remember, there is a simple description for government control of the economy: socialism. America, however, was founded as a capitalist country. The Constitution grants Congress exceedingly limited regulatory and tax powers, because the founders were tired of having their business affairs managed by the Crown. So they created a strictly limited government, which allowed freedom and capitalism to flourish.

In a capitalist economy, the government acts only as a referee by protecting property rights, enforcing contracts, and prohibiting force and fraud. Because our modern federal government has strayed so far from its limited constitutional powers, it controls the economy far more than the founders intended. As a result, our economy is becoming more and more socialist. Federal taxes, regulations, welfare, subsidies, wage controls, and price controls, along with Fed manipulation of interest rates and the money supply, all represent socialist government intervention in the economy. No matter what the Democrats or Republicans want to call it, socialism is socialism. We should have the honesty to identify exactly what is being advocated when some call for even more government control of the economy.
Centralized economic planning is disastrous for every society that employs it. From the former Soviet Union to present day China, planned economies have produced little but hardship and bloodshed. The reason for this is simple human nature, because individuals have little incentive to produce when the fruits of their labors are stripped from them. Both history and economic theory demonstrate conclusively that government-run economies lower the standard of living for everyone except government elites charged with the "planning." By contrast, capitalism raises the standard of living for everyone in a society. More importantly, free market capitalism is the only moral economic system because it is the only free economic system. Socialism, communism, and authoritarianism- variants on the same collectivist theme- all use immoral government force to control the economic lives of individuals.
If we ever hope to enjoy real and lasting prosperity in this country, we must redefine our view of the proper role of government. It is tempting during difficult times to demand that the government "do something," but a free society is defined by what its government does not do.

PS - I'll take a piece of his $$$ too.

Snorpus...

When I saw the map of this region, I wondered why it would include an avenue to Lake Erie...of course the answer was obvious...access to the fresh water from the lake...if all of our fresh water streams have the potential to be bottled for the world..then the Great Lake water would be used too...great efforts have been made in recent decades to clean the lakes up...fisheries are operable and pollution is minimal...

With peace on the planet and 3rd world countries transposing their failed governments to a capitalist system of personal rewards, the population will double and reach a critical mass...

Water and renewable fuels, such as natural gas will be the most valuable commodities we have...it's always about the money...
Biggest real estate holder in Wv? John D. Roachefeller 3rd....these people are planning for the next century and family members not born yet or named, bank accounts and trusts are set up in advance...What a future!
And we dweebs, think from Friday paycheck to paycheck...

DK,

Every empire needs a fresh-water port. We'll dig the Wheeling and Lake Erie Canal, bring cruise ships into New Martinsville, St. Mary's, and Huntington.

Wheeling will be the new New Orleans (since the old Big Easy will be perpetually under water in the future), with a Quebecois instead of Cajun, flavor.

Wait a minute... you're alluding to the notion that Obama came up with this plan? Think you'd best be researching who authored and approved all of this and put that in print. Obama can't get credit for anything with a presidential seal when someone else is president. Course, if you prefer to be the 51% of americans who believe republicans do no wrong and only need dem's as scapegoats... how has that worked out so far?

Snorpus: Wheeling could regain its old position as a gateway city...had as many whorehouses as the Big Easy... all were politically correct in their time and paid their monthly dues to the police and government leaders...in cash and kind...

Now that Amsterdam is closing that industry, we could begin a 'Lend-lease Program like FDR did with Briton...
those Imports could help reduce the national debt and deficits...this plan has wings...I'm beginning to like it...

Would you need inspectors...I mean testers?
