I've ridden the Metro several times without incident. In general, compared with other mass transit systems I have used throughout the world, the Metro is top flight.

The Metro is the ONLY way to travel into DC! I will admit getting used to the electronic ticket boothes took a while to master, but it beats driving around the city. And the seats are vinyl. Much easier to clean. As far as bums loitering or sleeping around the entrances, whatever, it's a big city. You're going to see and have to accept this. I found the NYC subways attract as many if not more bums and it's not as clean. I'm still surprised that off of only a couple of minor experiences you would tell someone not to use the whole metro. But if you're referring to Metro busses, I can't comment as I don't use them. But I find the subway to be very nice and I've never seen any bums around the stations I use.

I used to work across the street from Flanagan's. Played many, many dart games and had my fill of corned beef and Irish stew. Glad to hear it's still around.

I bet you don't think twice about urinating off your front porch. Metro used to NOT allow passengers to use the facility bathrooms. I think there was a lawsuit filed and now the Metro employees have to allow you to use them if you ask.

Actually this house has 3 1/2 baths...

Now the back 15 acres I own is another thing...whizzed on by us and the neighbors who hunt there, do their camping, have their family picnics and do 4 wheeling...

Only thing I hate is the beer cans and litter (once in a while).

But that is a NO NO and gets that person a permanent ticket off the premises.

The neighbors are a good police and even mow about 2 acres of it with their riding lawn mower.
