...I dont want to find any anti-semetism. I just dont want my kids to be the only jewish ones in the class.
That won't be an issue in Yorktown Central Schools at all. My son is in 5th grade and every year there have been a good number of Jewish kids in his class. I was at the 5th grade science fair tonight and (because of this post) scanned the names (and faces) for Jews--and there are lots. (And the science fair is mandatory, so isn't just that the jewish kids are more intellectual!) We've lived in YH for 10 years now (since moving from Brooklyn) and are fairly active in the school and community. I know lots of Jewish families living all over YH and have never felt the slightest bit of discomfort or awkwardness. I've never heard anyone even hint about any issues with being Jewish until your post. (I can't speak to northern Yorktown/Lakeland schools, which is a different population). You should certainly move if you aren't comfortable in your neighborhood, but I really wouldn't worry about your kids experience in school or about feeling comfortable in the overall community.
Ultimately our house in Yorktown (Lakeland schools ) is not big enough for my home business, and our growing family. Yorktown taxes are pretty crazy for a 3000sf house (20K). Again I did read that yorktown schools are better than lakeland & for the tax dollar I think that Katonah schools are better (or rank higher).
As long as its low key in goldens bridge / lewisboro & there are some jews I would be happy.
I am looking around Goldens bridge, not far from lake Katonah. I am glad to hear that its open minded
Goldens Bridge is very Jewish, in some ways for somehwat strange historic reasons that don't reflect its current population. I have a friend who lives there who ironically is one of the few non-Jewish families on his block and he told me that the town originated as a Jewish summer camp/resort of sorts in the 1920s with Socialist leanings (I believe Mohegan Lake had a similar origin).....the town has a 'rec center' where he showed me a display of this history and noted that most of the current people involved in awards, etc. for activities at the center have Jewish last name (he did so I wouldn't think it was some weird "conspiracy theory". By the way it's a very nice town that has a somewhat "rural feel" almost unique to Westchester.
While it has little to do with the inhabitants of the town now (in fact, my friend is quite liberal and told me a lot of his neighbors are fairly conservative in their politics), it helped in the town having a reputation as a general "Jewish" neighborhood and resulted in a significant Jewish population even today.

Hi Rich,
Just came across your post and even though its older i wanted to respond. I live in Katonah and I am Jewish , reform, and my wife is Asian , so my 2 kids are ethnically mixed. Funny, when we moved to Katonah from NYC my mom in typical Jewish mom fashion, got very serious and said to me " are there any Jews there ? " The reason its funny is because there are tons! We belong to Shaaray Tefila in Bedford and some days there I see more Asians than Jewish folks! Anyway , I work in real estate so I am know alot of people locally and have yet to see any signs of anti semitism. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
