Hi everyone!
I found an apartment near Rectory Ave. and North Main Street, the apartment looks nice but i don't know anything about this neighborhood. I know port chester is a safe place to live in general but still i want to make sure this area is safe because i'm a single woman and will be living alone.
Please help me out, any thoughts are appreciated!

I always found that if it looks good during the day go back at night when everyone is home. Walk around with a friend, stop in a local store or restauraunt. You'll pick up if it's right for you.
Port Chester has a kind of bad reputation because it has a large immigrant Hispanic population. In fact, it is this population that helped turn around what was a deteriorated village with a virtually abandoned downtown.
I have never heard much about muggings and mayhem in Port Chester. I have, however, heard great things about the cheap Central American restaurants.

I guess any town that doesn't look like a loaf of white bread must be a problem area....

Thank you Rubygreta!
That's actually one of my concerns, but i agree with you that these people made port chester what it is now. Thank you!
