So one of the things we enjoy doing on the weekends is taking a long drive through the mountain roads up to Blowing Rock to have breakfast. However on our last visit we came to find that our favorite spot Sunny Rock had closed down (I think it's some kind of pizza place now). We were in shock and drove around for a while and could not find any other option other than Waffle House or the like.

We did find one place that was suppose to be good in Boone but there was a line out the door and it didn't seem like a sit down table service place. So do you have any recommendations of good sit down breakfast spots in the area?

Its been awhile since but drive on up to Boonie and turn left on c-105 and watch about a half mile down on the right and look for a classic train car dinner feel at Troys 105 Dinner . Meals are like what I remember at a few of our local dinners 50 years ago back in SW FL and I'm 67 now . Not many places like that around today . Hope this has not changes much since we were there last time .

I always stop for the Fried Flounder basket about every 3rd or 4th time we pass through Boone.

Sunrise Grill on Hwy 105, and also Dan'l Boone Inn at the corner of East King St and Hardin St.

Blowing Rock doesn't have much in the way of breakfast spots. The coffee shops sell muffins, etc. The best spots are in Boone. Try Melanies Food Fantasy, Mel's, Sunrise diner, Boone Bagelry, or The Daniel Boone Inn (for big family style breakfast). There's also a Cracker Barrel and Waffle Shoppe, but they're chains.

Sunrise Grill or Melanie's in Boone. Both are table service. Melanie's can get a line. Sunrise can too but usually not as bad and easier parking.

I'm so happy to hear the diner is still there! I'm going to Boone this Friday! I loved eating there when I visited five years ago.
