My husband, daughter, and I are going to be moving to Asheville in about a month or so and we are looking for a pediatrician for our 14 month old daughter. We DO NOT vax, so we need to find a pedi that will be willing to work with us and our decisions. Also, I will need a midwife when we move as we are expecting #2 in May and we are planning on a home birth.

If you can suggest any no-vax friendly pediatricians or a midwife/midwife group that does home births, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

There is a group on yahoo Asheville mamas, I think is the name. Join that group and you will get all the info you need. There are a great group of mamas there and you may even end up with some friend for when you relocate.

You are taking your chances coming here without being willing to vaccinate - our high illegal alien population and others such as yourself put your baby at great risk for serious illnesses. I sincerely hope no doctor is willing to go along with such a lifestyle choice, but Asheville would be a place I'd expect to find one of all places in NC.

I'm sure you won't have any trouble finding a midwife though, congrats on the new baby.

Been there, done that, have two boys who "survived" being vaccianated. The truth is people who are foolhardy enough not vaccinate are bringing back a resurgance of diseases this country had all but erradicated. These diseases are becoming real problems all over again and frankly I think it's nuts to put your child at risk for them. Ever see a child with whooping cough and how they suffer? It's not a pretty picture. And in other countries people die from it and measles more and more every year.

But we are going off topic - so I will say no more. The great thing about America, at least for a while longer until we become more socialist, is that we are all allowed freedom of speech, and THAT'S what I respect
