We are moving to the Wichita area this summer and would like to target our housing search to neighborhoods with the best schools. My kids are 3 and 8 years old. Anyone out there with first hand experience and opinions on specific schools in the Wichita area?

I don't have any first hand experiance but did look into a lot of schools and communities. We are moving to Derby. A lot of people rave about Andover as well. I liked the feel of Derby much better. To each their own.

Good luck with the move. We had a difficult time finding a house for sale that met our needs so we are now building. If you do find a house I would jump on it!!

Most all the schools in Wichita are good.

I would pick Andover school district.. I own a house in Wichita just a mile from Andover so out school district is andover but because we are in Wichita city limits we don't pay the taxes for Andover schools That area is really hot and has lot of new contructions. Now I am moving out of Wichita and trying to sell our house but I would high recommend that area for:
1. Good school district but you still don't pay taxes for that school district
2. newer construction
3. closer to mall, theatres, good restaurants
4. close to WSU and Bulter community college.
5. Decent neighborhood
