Ok... I need some advice! Can anyone suggest a nice weekend getaway spot not too far from Wausau? I think that 2 hours would be our driving max. No aim in particular... just a change in scenery....

I would consider heading towards Door County. It is an easy drive. Lots to see and do. In October we went down to Madison and New Glarus. It was a lot of fun. We picked up some really good and different cheeses. Really pretty area.

I would second Door County. I've been there several times and enjoyed each visit. Door County will be about a two and a half hour drive. Wisconsin Dells might be fun this time of the year being as tourism will be down. About two hours. There is also a casino(if your into gambling) about three or four miles east of Black River Falls on highway 54. Again two and half hours. Hope these help. Good luck!

Smile thanks!

Thank you for the replies! I think that Madison has won this time. Of course... I am hoping to have a lot more weekend getaway after this, too!

We were in Appleton this weekend. The Performing Arts Theatre is wonderful. They are going to have some shows soon that are part of the Broadway Across America series. Great performances, I have seen them in other cities. Also loved The Season's Restaurant.

Madison is so much fun. I love going down there. Kate, Appleton does have a great theater and so does Green Bay. Some great shows there. Even, here in Wausau we have the Grand and they do some big shows too.
