I never remember seeing a winter rainbow before.

Cool picture! That's good stuff.

I remember the first time I saw thundersnow. It was Jan of '82 I believe.

That's pretty cool to see as well.

It was lightning and thundering in the middle of a snowstorm!

I don't remember ever seeing a rainbow in winter either.

AMC TY. I remember winter thunderstorm also.. Many seen it and never thought about it. Just 40+ years and never remember seeing one is strange. Was not snowing anything just cold and slight breeze.

Jill -8 not bad it is the winds that make ya cold.

We always called these Sundogs. You can often see a matching one in the corresponding spot on the other side of the sun. I was told that they are formed by ice crystals suspended in the air, which is why you gegnerally see them when it is really cold. Great picture!!!

I heard term sundogs before but never knew what meant. Will have to watch for them more on our below 0 sunny days. I tried getting a pic at home with the tree's and frozen river but angle was not good and tree's blocked it some.

Nice photo dreamhunter65! I've never seen one either.

Ditto with the sundogs, I've heard the guys from Alaska mention them but I never knew what they meant.
