So I just sent back my offer letter and went through hireright for my criminal, personal background check... 2 reasons why I ask -
1. I called hireright because in my online form it never asked about past employers and contacts....They said that my potential employer, a huge company, is not checking employment verification via hireright...just background and criminal..
2. I called my HR lady and she said they dont need references....as in they arent calling...
does this not seem unusual? I have more experience that the job is asking for...it requires only 2 years...but the salary is really strong and the company is great...
Is it because there is really no experience needed?

If experience is required most employers will verify. Maybe they save time by doing the background check first before asking for and checking employment history.
There's no such thing as "really no experience needed" these days. I don't know what's going on, but it definitely isn't that.
