Ask me in about 3 yrs! I just started brand new as a Speech-Language Pathologist, so I have a TON to learn & it involves bringing work home on a regular basis to do reports. ON the upside, I work for a school district, so it's never nights/weekends & no one will get more days off a year than me PLUS I get 1 weekday off EVERY week as it is.
I'd give it a 10 but my pay is a bit low for what I do. Benefits are ok.
I am comparing it to a similar job a friend of mine has working for the BLM. A sweet fed job.
My job is pleasant and I like the work I do. I make maps (GIS) for an archaeological consulting company. It's interesting work. My co-workers are very nice people, easy to work with. I even do fun things outside of work with some of my co-workers.
It is a company that has low turnover and they'd like me to stay. I've only been there about a year so I'll see how it goes.
The job is pretty mundane and it's too easy, but my co-workers are really good people and easy to get along with. The location of my work is also horrible. The pay is less than I would like too.
Depends on what kind of day I had I'd say average, it's a 7. The pay is ok, and leaves plenty to save. Overtime can be abundant, but I have never been forced to work it. Having the option to spend time away from the job is always there, so I enjoy the flexibility and appreciate being asked instead of told. I'd rather have the OT though, so I'm content. The job itself gets a bit boring at time, and sometimes I get tired of the computer crap, but it's always good to stay on top of the latest tech. The people I work with are pretty decent to. Have been treated very well by management, and show an interest in holding onto their workers, skilled trades anyways. Seen a lot of cut backs in other areas over the past couple months though. As long as the workload stays secure in my department, I feel pretty secure though.
Probably could be doing better somewhere else, but happy with what I have here none the less.
I said an 8. I really love my job, BUT my young company is going through growing pains. We are actually a young company inside a much larger company. The two cultures clash at times. We have some of the old guard from a previous side of the company and those folks on a general scale have a very hard time adjusting to this new group. It makes it very difficult to navigate sometimes. Because a big group inside of our parent company was shutting down some people were brought over because they were going to be "laid off" without any regard to whether or not they were a good fit and had the ability to change. some were good choices others don't want to change from the failed business they just left because it is all they know.
However, I love my teams, i love my product, i have the ability to travel the world (sitting in Ireland right now) and I am proud at what my development teams are producing.
