Should have signed those papers for the Air Force when I was 22.

About college, or employment choices? what would you tell your younger self
I think I made good choices about college and employment. I am an independent contractor and I love it. Will never want to be an employee again. I have always worked harder than my co-leagues yet getting the same pay.
The only thing I might have changed when I was younger would be being more careful in choosing men in a relationship.

You're not as good a judge of people as you think you are. You'll be wrong quite often and the cost will be missed opportunities and friendships.

I was talked out of taking computer programming in high school and told that all of those jobs would go overseas (along with my dad telling me it was not a good field for women)... graduated high school in 2006 and it took me until my final year of college to really focus on beefing up my tech skills. I would have been so much better than I am now had I started learning how to program when I was 14 or 15 years old instead of when I was 22 or 23 juggling way too much!

Try to have some kind of plan, even if you know it's not going to follow exactly what you want, just think ahead about what you want to be, how to get there, what you need along the way.

Be nicer to people and don't alienate those who can help you!

I know it's a cliché but find a job where you can find something about it to enjoy. Don't just take a job because it pays well or is close to home or is the first one you get offered.

Be prepared to take risks.

Don't panic if you lose your job - it may be the best thing that happened to you.

Always be learning new skills, whether it's office-related or a language or something handy.

1. Try harder at calculus and physics.

(I earned a journalism degree, after starting in atmospheric science)

2. Take more of an interest in computer-related programming, instead of playing games on the computer.

3. Take more risks.

4. Travel

5. Your first instinct will often be incorrect.

Hey! I think you can still be a writer . Just do it on the side or as something that makes you happy. Even you don't make it big at least you got to enjoy and maybe share with those you care about. Keep your head up, because Stephen King threw the book Carrie in the trash , imagine if he gave up.

It doesn't matter, because I wouldn't have listened.

Mostly, I'd suggest a more practical major in college, plus not taking out so many loans. But other people told me that and I didn't listen, so I'd probably just do it again anyway.
