In the past month I've received offers for both 550/day and 700/day.

I turned them both down. Id tell your friend to shop around.

If you LOOK at it you will get told you "make" X amt per visit, and when you multiply that X "Y visits per day" it APPEARS you are making (taking home in pay) MUCH more than actually are after expenses. It is MORE about "how much does it COST you vs how much you make" that helps you realize the "bottom line take home" that counts.
A lot of self employed people also get paid mileage to cover those expenses.

When I was self employed any work related driving was paid at 63 cents per mile and $50/hr. My current job was 55 cents an hr when I was hourly and now I get a solid truck allowance and gas card.

My tax amounts at the end of the year were around 5% more than being employed by a company.

Also don't forget being self employed you can also write off a ton more expenses.

A $100k/yr salary breaks down to about $400 a day, so yes that's good pay. Wish I made that much

Yeah well most people don't live in Redmond/Bellevue/Kirkland even in the Seattle metro area.

Both good points.

It's all relative. In some areas and industries, that would be good, and in others, it would not be.

Anyone who can make that much per day, and has to ask if that's good money......
My ex SIL used to make $400 a day as an interpreter for Japanese businessmen doing business in the US. She also went to Japan for the same job, paid the same wage PLUS travel and lodging/food expenses. They even paid for her two kids to go with her.

You're right about the OP though. It doesn't take much to figure out what is and isn't "good money".
