It actually infuriates me, especially seeing how one of my bosses does NOTHING with the programs she creates and makes the people under her do it, essentially we do her job for her and she gets the salaried position. I haven't seen her in months because she's been out for health reasons but it just really gets to me, especially since I am going to school AND working and she has the FULL-TIME job, all because I don't have the precious undergrad degree yet.
I am trying to understand this: she creates the programs and makes people underneath her use them? Sounds like she knows how to delegate.....
It depends. If the degree is in pie making then it might not make a difference. If it is engineering or nursing it makes a huge difference.
I doubt AGG1659's boss has a degree in engineering or nursing, especially considering how he referred to it as a "precious undergrad degree" that gets her the salaried position just for having it.
How can you possibly consider that rich? It's not even enough to own a house.
Easy, some people make between $10-$12 an hour and that's all they really can expect based on the profession and market. If they were making $15-$17, that would be absolutely amazing. $10-$12 an hour for most jobs is pretty common in LCOL areas. Not everyone can be a software engineer or executive account manager. Warehouse, retail, clerical/administrative positions, food service, drafting, etc, all pay that range, and many more wish they could and try to get away with it.
No, I am not pissed off about my career position or income. I have been before and I did something about it. Whining usually doesn't solve anything, and I'm not hating on you people here venting, I understand that. But people who I work with who whine about their career opportunities or their position in the company or how negatively they view everything are dumb. If you blame someone else, a coworker or boss or the company you work with, then you're using the easy scape goat. Everything is on you and you alone. If the coworker/boss/company truly are a roadblock or you're in an unfixable company, then perhaps you should find one that works.

Theres a lot of over-generalizations regarding Bachelor's degrees so Id like to clarify a few things. Most degrees will experience ups and downs based on regional demand, but assuming you have mobility, a proper GPA, and did an internship where applicable, then the below should apply based on what Ive witnessed.
Bachelors degrees where you should have a job after graduation: Accounting, Nursing, Engineering (All), Software side of IT,
Degrees heavily dependent on GPA: Science (Biology, Chem, Phys), Finance.
Degrees designed to get you into Law school: History, English, Poli Sci, Economics.
All other degrees....good luck. Note that science Bachelors are used as a leg up for something else. I only have one friend with a job and a Bachelors in Biology, she works as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist.
This is based off of what Ive seen with my friends from College and from people complaining on these boards about not being able to find work after college.
I think more than anything I am just plain frustrated. I am frustrated by the fact that I went to college and everyone in my family said only way to get a job in life. I think my frustration is also with the fact that the government of the US is reckless when it comes to economic crisis's. I have beaten that topic to death so I won't go further. Part of me has come to believe this is a sign of the times. Maybe I should be grateful that I can support myself and have my own place and take care of myself even though I'm only a waiter. I didn't have to move back into mom and dad's house after college. I am frustrated by the fact that my brother graduated right before the 2008 economic crisis and has a great job. In fact all of my siblings have great careers in life right now. I keep hoping 2014 will be a better year.
