And this is why conservatives will continue to lose elections, clueless as to the reasons why they keep losing, and why they're unpopular..
Liberal states and countries keep losing jobs and appear clueless as to why that is so. Jobs are popularity contests to see who can promise the most ... Companies take their jobs to where the company can be successful and continue to provide jobs... wonder why some liberal states seem to be losing.... oh well they may not have jobs but at least they are popular..
Then by this logic your own parents didn't or don't owe you a damn thing, including providing you with food and shelter and a normal upbringing.
Actually, that's not the same logic. A parent takes on responsibility to their children when they have them. No one takes on the responsibility to provide you a job. However, you can take on the responsibility to earn a job, if you wish.

Conservative states aren't doing much better. Arizona is known for being right if not far-right and still has an unemployment level 1.00% over the national average.

LOL! Wouldn't want to be out looking for a job in places like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc... Even if you are "lucky enough" to find a job, good luck making ends meet on it. Of course, it makes sense why most of these red states feature the highest percentages of welfare dependent workers. Great selling point
TBH, I didn't read the entire thread, but I suppose that the people that are quick to say "Nobody owes you anything" are taking the tough guy approach because that's the attitude that forms the underpinning of today's society. You know, the Puritan work ethic, the lone wolf, the hardscrabble existance that's romanticized in our culture. Technically, no, no one else owes anyone anything, but is that the attitude that makes for a successful, cohesive society? I'm not a huge fan of the entitlement mentality to be sure, but realistically, we live in a society where one can be a hero one moment and a zero the next. A select few are insulated from bad choices, or bad luck; most are not. I feel for the young kids that are graduating with massive debt and limited options.
Anyone care to share what they mean when they say or hear the phrases, "No one owes you anything.", and "No one owes you a job."?
It means nothing is handed to you in the real world. Unless you are super elite (Ivy League, economics, McKinsey types), you need to hustle in this economy. You are showing entitlement if you think someone should give you a job just because you are educated and smart.
There's a popular conservative/libertarian narrative that holds that the job market is a meritocracy, so that anyone who can't get a job must not deserve one. People who complain about their job prospects are therefore nothing but a bunch of whiners. People who go around saying these things are basically Social Darwinists who have no empathy for others and no understanding of how the job market actually works.
If you understand how the labor market functions, then you will realize nothing will be handed to you.
Nobody owes you anything. Get sick and spend all your assets. Nobody owes you anything until the stuff hits the fan. We live in a different world and nothing is guaranteed. Lose your job and the streets is a real possibility.
A problem is people listen to wealthy politicians who really don't care about their needs or wants. Cut everything for everyone else but leave what they have alone. People buy it.

Yet liberal states still have higher real estate values, better education systems, higher paying jobs and by most standards higher quality of life, including health care systems.
Not everyone wants to join the race to the bottom in lowering wages/benefits and working conditions.
The only way the liberal states are "losing" is if you consider having more poor paying jobs "winning".
I, for one, have worked in both Conservative and Liberal states (so called) and never had any problem securing good employment in liberal states. Neither have my friends or family. Amazing what an education and skillset can do. It assures me that I never will have to live in KY or IN ever again.
