I feel like the biggest issue with this is going to be time, after the follow I feel into an awkward mental state. Perhaps it was depression or shock because I had just got over the flu and lost my sense of taste and smell (which still has not come back) .

At the end of February this year I was called directly by the CEO from the company I worked at, he called me on my cell at the end of the day. He called to terminate me. Previous to this action he had sent a few emails basically threating to "clean house". I was a mid-level manager, and I reported to a director in charge of my department.

Earlier in the day I went into HR to very vaguely chat about what was going on the same day.

As a manager who had staff that reported to them, I knew the company handbook well. Before termination disciplinary actions must be taken, there was a corrective action policy that was basically a 3 strikes policy The company policy is supposed to give employees at least 3 warnings or follow acceptable procedures before the employee is terminated. I received none. It feels like it was retaliation from my I spoke to HR very vaguely about what was going on the same day. Also, they gave no reason/explanation as why was discharged on the phone or in writing. It was "At will" employment. However, companies are supposed to follow their policies.

Is it too late to consult a lawyer about what happen?

you can always follow up with a lawyer; but they will want to know why you waited so long. Do you still have a copy of the handbook? Is your only claim that they did not follow their internal process? What was going on with the emails- were you not doing something they wanted you to do?

The CEO's gripe was more with my director, so this was the whole $hit roles down hill thing. The CEO wanted things to be like it was at his previous company, so his "vision" wasn't progressing fast enough for him. I don't have the handbook but I do have the corrective action policy which covers what should take place before termination.

Following company policy is not a legal issue. If your job is "at will" they can fire you on the spot at any time for any reason, and not even give you a reason. There is nothing you can do about it. The policy is meant to provide standard, fair and consistent method for disciplining problem employees, not for layoffs, housecleaning, or reducing management.

I understand that, however I had nothing negative in my file at all. Someone had advised me to contact a lawyer but I figured it would be a waste of time.
