Back when I worked in a hospital it wasn't uncommon to do 16-hour shifts when someone called in sick, usually worked 2-3 a month during the summer and maybe every other month during the school year.
12-13 hour days are normal for me. Wages are so low these days you got to work at least 60 a week to make a living. I am working 60-80 hours at the plant and looking for a 2nd job. maybe pizza delivery or amazon.

It is true. I was paid 14/hr at a job where I regularly worked 50 - 60 hrs a week and was paid double time to work holidays. Then at another job I was paid 19/hr but overtime needed approval and was discouraged, and no double time to work holidays. I made more money at the first job.
I used to work 12 hr days with no days off for 2-3 weeks at a time. That wasn't fun but the overtime was killer.
The worst is as a teacher a team I coach typically wins our regional quiz bowl style competition and we go to nationals. It is me and 5 students for 6 days, with no down time. I am "on" for 18 hrs a day, and have to share hallway duty in the middle of the night with other teachers on our floor. The worst part, is we don't get any overtime for this type of situation, just our regular pay, and nothing for the two weekend days.
Its to the point where I think I am going to give up coaching the team but, no one else is willing to do it, and since we typically place the kids get nice scholarships. I would hate for them to lose that but I am just done with the national competition.
For a time I worked in the Central Dispatcher's office of a major trucking line. The nature of basic industry is such that the least time-sensitive work piles up during the week, and finally moves on weekends.
So on Friday evening I'd come to work at midnight, and often work well into Saturday afternoon, since none of the other dispatchers or clerks wanted to work on weekends. Usually, I'd then head for my upstate hideout -- an 80-mile drive -- since I usually didn't have to go to work until Monday evening.
I was fresh out of college, and having trouble adjusting to a less-stimulating community, but fortunately, was an hourly rather than salaried employee, so the money made up for a lot of that.
The longest I've ever worked in my life was a 15-hr shift one day, but it was MY CHOICE & I was able to go to the bathroom &/or get water when I wanted (which I did within reason & as quickly as possible), so there were no set breaks. I got up & stretched as often as I could from my desk.
