Yep, I know it's because of the stigma. I view that whole line of thinking as ridiculous. It's a huge reason that so many male veterans don't seek treatment for their mental health issues when they come home. They're supposed to be strong, manly men and too many people view mental illness as some kind of weakness or character flaw instead of what it is - an illness.
Have you had your vitamin D levels tested? I say this totally separate of any mental health issues. Extremely low vitamin D will affect your energy level. If you rarely go outside it's quite possible you are low.

Not everyone is the same but going back to work solves a lot of issues, just because you are too tired to care much about anything by the time ya get home. Solves the following issues in general:
Insomnia, over-eating, wallowing in self pity, shopping addictions, plus more!
Here's another suggestion for the OP: If he/she hasn't already done so, get a complete physical checkup. Sometimes undiagnosed medical issues can trigger anxiety and panic attacks. That happened to me once. My thyroid gland failed, and my doctor at first thought it was menopausal depression and brushed off my requests to check my TSH levels. By the time I got a correct diagnosis, I was very ill and was suffering from extreme anxiety and insomnia that made me unable to work or do much of anything else. I felt as if I were going insane. It was so bad, I actually thought of killing myself just to find some relief from the torture.
Folks, read the OP's first thread. He was fine and working until a car accident in October. He's been off work on short term disability and doesn't want to go back to work.
Now, all of a sudden, he has debilitating anxiety even though the doctor is telling him he's cleared to work.
Sorry, but the OP told the truth in the earlier thread. We can't ignore that.

i swear it's like folks don't know we can find all their posts.

Or worse, don't even care / think it doesn't matter. A lot of folks on here giving advice sure don't seem to think it does. Kind of makes you go 'hmmmm.'
Anyway, I suggest those of us who are employed get off C-D and back to work - the disabled are counting on us. Besides SSRI/SSD will still be there if we become disabled/retire, won't it? Right?
