Most jobs that require more education or training will pay $30+/hour. Not saying you'll get that at the lower levels in the Deep South but even pretty low paying jobs like teaching definitely pays over $30/hr lots of places.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread, in some regions there would be virtually nothing that pays a W2 hourly employee $30+ per hour. For example, I checked our city's HR website for Solid Waste Collection Worker pay, and it tops out at $15.87/hour. In construction in this area, I can't imagine anyone working less than a licensed journeyman-level trade making $30/hour; most non-licensed trade construction workers are going to be immigrants from south of the border who earn nowhere close to $30.
Teaching would be $30+/hour in most places, if you only count the time spent in-classroom. But if you know any teachers, you've probably gotten an earful about how many hours they put in outside class time preparing lessons, grading papers, conferences, etc. Teaching also generally requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree + a certificate from the State. And it may be next to impossible to get hired in some school systems with just the minimum qualifications. Plus, I'm not aware of any teachers who are paid by the hour, unless they are substitutes.
