Wow. This is nothing but excuses you're telling yourself. There are senior level jobs that want a decade or more of experience.
Our shop is Seattle pays the delivery driver like $20... the skilled trade guys (fabrication, machining, etc) like myself are $25-$40 ... and lots of OT.
Not every job has had the pay tank...
I can't do delivery and no, the pay if fine. If I wanted, I could have a apt and the bells and whistles. But frankly, why rent when it's making someone else rich?

That's what happens when people let themselves get too comfortable at work.
If you were able to get your job when you had 5 years LESS experience, odds are you are now overqualified for it. Especially the type of jobs that doesn't require any degree or license. Move on to something more challenging within the next few years.

The OP has posted here under various handles. The issue that she has is that she’s in a position with a lot of younger folks in their 20s who quickly move up. I don’t think she’s in a job where people are supposed to stay long term. It sounds like it is pretty entry level and you are supposed to move up or move out. She has not.

Ahhh, I see. So it likely has much less to do with age than ambition and money.
A 20 something will accept less money than the OP and do just as good a job. Most times, better because they are more ambitious. I'd choose the person who accepted less money and was more motivated any day.
we have a spot opening in my group. it's a level 1 manager spot, so not for college grads. I was surprised to hear that people of all ages are applying to it, but then my dept is low stress and hasn't experienced many lay offs so word gets out and people know where they want to be.

I just checked indeed.com. Over 2000 jobs for senior level people, 10+ years of experience wanted, salary over $145k.
Companies are cutting wages and benefits. That is what is going on. Oh, yeah, age discrimination is also alive and well.
I haven’t found that. I’m in my mid 40’s and have been casually looking to see what else is out there and I have had 2 job offers in the past month with decent salaries. I did decline both as the job I have now is still better but I think there’s more factors to getting a job than just age. Such as experience, location, education, etc.
I also agree that the OP should be applying to jobs that want more experienced individuals as it doesn’t sound like she’s not entry level. As far as what jobs are offering for pay, that also varies by location. I can drive an hour to Chicago and make $5 more an hour than what I’m making at my current job in NW Indiana for the same type of job.
