It depends...Im a city boy and I like to be within an hour of a city that has pro sports of some type. With that said I would do it for a few years to stock up the bank account. If its appealing you would be a VERY big fish in the community as opposed to LA.
I personally would not want to live in the middle of nowhere making $250K. There's more to life than counting your money. However, cost of living matters as well. I prefer a smaller town or city (20 to 30K people) within not more than 45 miles from a major metro area. Preferably a college or university town. The college students make the town dynamic and less boring.

I live in the sticks. We have had a few people move to the area. They appeared to think they were a "big fish". They really had a rude awakening.
