But I've always really found Cajun/Creole food fascinating. I've never really tried much, but I'm dying to make a trip to Louisiana, and specifically New Orleans for it.
Yeah I was just gonna say that seafood jambalaya is American food too!

Cajun and Creole aren't exactly the same and both groups will tell you that when you go there. Besides that, yeah you will like. It's my favorite American cuisine but I may be a little bias as one side of my family is creole.

Nicki Minaj is not Jamaican, she was born in Trinidad & Tobago and moved to Jamaica, Queens, NY when she was 5 yo.
Holy **** she's already 31, thought she was like 4-5 years younger.

For me, the most fascinating aspect of the US is the music, but I'm not talking about the horrible mainstream crap that gets played everywhere (and yes, I include Rihanna and Minaj), I'm talking about the stuff you don't hear much. The likes of Calexico, Lambchop, The Handsome Family, John Grant, Beirut, Pixies, Pavement, Patti Smith, The Velvet Underground, etc The list is really endless. So much amazing music has come from the US that relatively few people hear about and it's these you should be proud of - not Katy Perry!

America is probably the closest modern counterpart of ancient Rome in various ways. No other modern country comes close to that. She also has the wisdom and means to avoid the tragic end of the ancient Rome. That's what I find most fascinating. It's a great country.
