Ahaha I remember at least 3 different occasions when we made our teacher cry For some reason it's easier to make a female teacher cry

I just don't get why would you "respect" your teacher? Like what he's going to do?

I mentioned College/University twice because it depends on the professor. There were some professors that taught university classes that insisted on us students calling them by their first names OR a nickname. Some professors demanded we called them professor XXXX or doctor XXXX (if they had a Doctorate) and nothing else. Some prefered Mr.XXXX or Mrs.XXXX and so on you get the idea.
This is funny because in Finland Professor is an academic title. Science Universities have certain amount of Professors, and you need to be very well educated to became one. So it's funny when in America everyone is suddenly "Professor" Teachers are called "lecturers" in lower levels.

We call some teachers their first names here, only the friendly ones of course. If the teachers are from the West, everybody calls them their names.

Btw do you guys friend your teachers on Facebook? I mean, assuming both sides have a Facebook page.
In Finland we are equal

Some people are friends with their teachers on Facebook.

I'm sure there must be some goobers in every country that want to exaggerate their accomplishments or use fake or pretentious titles, but I wouldn't say that's a norm among college professors or any other profession here in the US. In fact, it can be illegal to do so, depending on the profession in question.

But in an American college every teacher is a professor, correct? I think this term is used more widely in other countries too

In Finland there can be no misconcemption because you have to hold the office of Professor to be called as such

Here there is a difference between a professor and a "chargé de cours".

A professor I believe does both lectures and research. A chargé de cours only does lectures.

At least I think that's the way it is.

They'd probably kick you out of school, if you keep being an arse.
