I voted Berlin but I personally would have added LA to the list also.Although it might not be the most tolerable city in the world, I feel as if it deserves to be in the conversation.

Yeah, Swiss aren't known for their tolerance. They kind of dislike everyone.

Bologna is the San Francisco of Italy. Zurich I threw in because I knew someone would come with the Switzerland being so neutral and international thing. I don't think it is either, though, and hence didn't vote for it lol

When someone talk about "tolerance", San Francisco and Amsterdam are the two first cities which come to my mind.

Voted Berlin, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Barcelona and Bologna. Anyway, these cities are all known for their welcoming stances, maybe Mexico City is the exception whereas Portland or Seattle could have managed to be part of the poll instead

Bologna, despite its size, deserves to be in the conversation representing Italy given that it's always been alongside Firenze by far the country's most tolerant cities. It's not called the red city for a reason, it's always been heavily socially (and economically) left wing having the leading LGBT organization in the country. Having a university that's home to eighty thousands students helps.

As for Zurich, i think Geneva would represent Switzerland more appriopriately, i think it is more left wing, more diverse, ecc.

Most sizeable cities in the west are reasonably tolerant.

Only including cities from the poll.

From most to least tolerant overall imo...

Tier 1:
Amsterdam
San Francisco

Tier 2:
Vancouver
Toronto
New York City

Tier 3:
London
Berlin
Lisbon
Barcelona

Tier 4:
Paris
Madrid
Tel Aviv
Melbourne
Sydney

Tier 5:
Mexico City
Rio de Janeiro
Buenos Aires
Bologna
Zurich
Bangkok

In cities like Rio and Bangkok most people are tolerant but the officials aren't.
If only talking about tolerance of prostitution and corruption they would be in tier 1.
