Wheels
Growing miles and remembered smiles are pushing you along
Sunrises and sunsets ever strong
Wipers keeping beat as down the road you go
Through blinding rain and driving snow
Occupy your mind with thoughts of days long gone
Of faces past and turns gone wrong
Fighting the loneliness while trying to make a dime
New direction, new place, new time
Small towns you’re passing linger in your mind
Memories of a different kind
Carry everything, everywhere, always on the move
Message in a box saying they approve
Little sleep, no time to eat and still you carry on
On the road before the dawn
Running through mountains the signal starts to fade
A voice from home slowly frayed
Driving nights, driving days sometimes the way you came
Time to go, time to stop, seems the same
White lines quickly dancing in the spotlight of the moon
Engine making music, a soft and lonely tune
Close your eyes, try to sleep in the middle of the day
Unfinished thoughts get in the way
Wake up still tired but know you have to go
Wheels moving faster; you’re still moving slow
The flash of a face appears before your eyes
Memories of soft and gentle sighs
The look of love shines in her eyes
Amidst the sad, too soon goodbye’s
What drives you down the road; I wonder
And keeps you from fading with the thunder
At a loss to explain the way it feels
Under the spell of eighteen wheels
Sitting in the candlelight staring at the moon
Hoping something good happens soon
Wondering if my heart can take it
Put on a smile and try to fake it
Got music playing on an old time stereo
Nothing to do, no place to go
Sound of your voice still ringing in my ears
Erasing my worries, calming all my fears
Knowing I will never give up this fight
Trying desperately to make it right
I don’t know just what I’m supposed to do
While waiting for my dreams to come true
Working hard to make a living in this town
Days and nights go round and round
Walking in the sunshine or hiding from the rain
Fill the lonely hours till you come back again
Captured by the feeling I get from loving you
Remembered whispers get me through
Brushing my hair and putting on my face
Adding something new to my little place
Wondering if you’d like it, if you’d do the same
Catch my breath, call out your name
Dinner for one, see your face in front of me
And then the vision starts to flee
Find the strength that keeps me going on
Knowing it’s darkest just before the dawn
Knowing the sun is someday gonna shine
Believing one day you will be mine
Sitting in the candlelight staring at the moon
Hoping something good happens soon
Cause I don’t know what a girl’s supposed to do
While she waits for her dreams to come true
Location: Moved to town. Miss 'my' woods and critters.

Oh, ncg, another emotional poem from you. Many could relate to this one. Set to music this would be pretty good.
