Seems every year another Wyoming town is recognized as a great place to retire too. So congrats, the cats out of the bag!

They obviously did not take wind and weather in to account. :-)

These articles are usually written by an age 20 something staff writer that has never been to WY or considered retirement.
Laramie, Wy.
Best for...: Investors

Cayo District, Belize
Best for...: Nature Lovers

What are the chances anyone will follow these recommendations (slim to none)

You have to wonder whether that article was written by (or for) the real estate developers who are sitting on a zillion acres of 'ranchettes' they are trying to sell in that area. My wife and I got suckered into looking at one of those developments. It took us about 15 seconds to figure out what the definition of 'high scrub land' was. The steady state winds were high enough that the average small aircraft couldn't even take off most days. Sorry, Mr. Developer. Not interested.

Then we found Sheridan...

Laramie has some of the best weather in the US.

Rarely over 80*F in the summer. Sure the winter is cold, but it's a dry cold, not a humid polar vortex. It's bearable.

I can think of a lot of descriptive words for the weather in Laramie, "best" is not one of them. :-)

Summer weather is great in Laramie. Winters aren't bad. Laramie's problem is the university that brings too many liberals and other detestables. When I hear that a place has a good cultural life I know that it's a bad place to live. Rawlins would be a far better choice fo those seeking a home in southern Wyoming.

I mostly agree with you. College towns are too liberal in general and they always tend to be ranked as the best places to live while having a ridiculous cost of living. Here's looking at you, Boulder, Ft. Collins, Flagstaff, AZ, etc.

But as a college town, Laramie still retains some of its "old west" vibe and is still an affordable place to live. If only the college students didn't keep wages so low...

As for southern WY, I've always like Saratoga. How do I make a living there?

I think the staff just passes the hat around and picks town name out and that's the best town to retire to this year? Also its not a repeat town either!

Right, because the town with the PRISON doesn't have any detestables.

Yeah, there are a few wacko liberals but the town is still pretty normal.
