Why ride a bike on that road at 5am?? These bikes are insane on these roads that barely fit a car. I saw someone get hit on Van Wyck road last year in a blind curve. Does not make sense. I know the driver should have been wearing his seat belt but he should not have had to swerve for a bike at 5am in the dark.

Wait, the crash happened on 160? If so, that road is 2 lanes there PLUS has a sidewalk. How do you hit someone on a bike and then crash so bad you die?

You know, I've got nothing against people who ride bikes. But when they are on main roads it irritates me to no end! Technically, they have the right of way, yes. But the reality is that they are on busy roads with NO shoulders (usually during rush hour) and competing against motorized vehicles weighing 2,000 pounds. I wish they would go to a park or something to ride their bikes.

I saw a cyclist get hit on the 160 last year up near the 521. I felt bad and said a prayer for them, but I can't imagine how bad the motorist felt who hit him. Needless to say there was quite a traffic back-up and, most importantly, the cyclist looked pretty bad. Don't know what happened to him, but he could've saved a lot of grief by just finding a lesser traveled area, maybe a road with a shoulder or sidewalk.

It just seems to me like these cyclists are so "gung ho" about riding their bikes that all sense goes out the window.

Just sayin'.

He did not hit the cyclist. He lost control avoiding the cyclist. I was a medic for several years and you would be surprised at the amount of injury that can be sustained in a low impact crash with no seat belt. Maybe if he was wearing it there would have been a different outcome.

Why would you swerve to the RIGHT? Seems like a lot of things dont add up in this one.
