The car was in the far right lane and tried to go to the left hand lane = a 3 lane change, from lane 4 (far right) to lane 1 (far left). No other cars involved and speed not indicated as a factor.
The article did not mention fire. Maybe they blew a tire, because all I could see was one wheel and there was no tire.

Sadly, over 32,000 were killed in car wrecks nationwide in 2010. I can not imagine such a number. That is close to 90 per day.
This tables show a decline in deaths as the population has been going up.
But, also look at how the number of miles driven in billions, have dropped dramatically after 1993.
We are all driving less.
