Description: While there are certainly no shortages of exclusive country clubs in Birmingham, those just wanting a great pool to share with their neighbors or a place to bring visitors could hardly do better than these two community favorites. Homewood Swimming Pool, located at the parks and recreation main facility at Central Park is a warm-weather gathering place for those living in the surrounding community. Ironically referred to as “Homewood Country Club” by locals, it’s a family-oriented spot to meet friends, catch up on neighborhood gossip, and play with the kids. In fact, it’s so relaxed, many residents from neighboring communities visit on a regular basis, all blending in and having a good time. A kiddie pool entertains toddlers and younger children while the main pool has a gently sloped ramp for older kids still testing out their confidence in the deeper water. The mushroom waterfall is a big attraction. It opens at the close of Homewood city schools for summer break and closes on Labor Day.
