Description: Eddie Ellner is quite locally renowned for offering mind, body, and spirit-­bending yoga classes. His classes are usually packed with yoga-­loving individuals who are trying to detox from the stresses of the every day. Because of Ellner’s own inability once-­upon-­a-time to pay for yoga classes, he and fellow teachers at his studio offer classes on a donation basis, with a suggested donation of $14 a class. This studio is in a pleasingly rejuvenated part of downtown. You can even book a facial or a massage afterwards at Crimson Day Spa & Boutique right across the street. For easy parking, use the public lot on the corner of Gutierrez and State Streets.

Description: The usual family-­oriented YMCA atmosphere prevails here, with classes and activities for the young and old. The kids can take swim lessons, romp in the fantastic Kids’ Gym, or join in group recreational programs. Child care is available. Tickets to all SBCC athletic events can be bought at the door or gate and are not available in advance.

Description: The Westmont Warriors invite the public to basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and other spectator sports events played by its six men’s and six women’s teams. Part of the Golden State Athletic Conference, the Warriors have won 48 conference titles in the past 18 years. Westmont has also claimed seven NAIA national championships, including titles in women’s soccer in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Westmont Field & Track won the women’s marathon and NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2007. In addition, the men’s basketball and soccer teams, plus the women’s volleyball squad, have been highly ranked in recent years. When athletic events have an admission fee, tickets are sold at the gate or the door.
