Description: The Breckenridge Center has more than 23 kilometers of groomed track set in the valleys below Peaks 7 and 8. The Breckenridge and Frisco (see entry later in this chapter) Nordic Centers are under the same management and share an interchangeable trail pass. Both offer instruction and rentals of cross-country skis and snowshoes.

Description: This outstanding facility offers indoor lap and recreational pools, a kiddie fountain, tennis and racquetball courts, a running track, fitness facilities, a climbing wall, and a variety of programs. There are also outdoor tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, a skateboard park, and a playground. It is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays. Nonresident adults pay $10; youths ages 13 to 17 and seniors age 60 and older, $6; children ages 3 to 12, $5; toddlers 2 years of age and younger get in free.

Description: Skiing is the No. 1 activity in winter in Summit County, but other options, snow-related and otherwise, abound. Winter sleigh rides, snowmobiling, dogsled rides, and other activities can be arranged by the Breckenridge Activity Center. In addition to making reservations, it can provide information on prices, hours, and availability of off-slope activities. 4. The Breckenridge Golf Club

Description: This club offers outstanding golf at America’s only Jack Nicklaus–designed municipal course. High-season greens and cart fees are about $110 for 18 holes.

5. National Repertory Orchestra

Description: This festival of classical music usually begins June 10 and continues through August. The orchestra performs at the beautiful Riverwalk Center, which was completed in 1993. Tickets are $22 to $32 per person.
