Description: This marina and amusement center in historic Black Rock Harbor helped begin the reimagining of Bridgeport back in 1982, and has expanded almost every year. “The Cove” is seasonal, from May to Sept, and centers around the large 400-seat (or 500, depending on how many squeeze in on a summer night) restaurant, with its wonderful deck overlooking the harbor and the marina. Upstairs, the bar area is built in a tugboat wheelhouse, and a 40-foot model of the Titanic hangs from the ceiling. Outside, a row of adorable shops line the wharf, with new vendors every summer. The Victorian Dundon House has been moved here and turned into a maritime museum as well, but call for an appointment. There are also several charter boats, tours in a US Navy launch boat, and a sailing school (www.teamsailaway.com) here. Check the Captain’s Cove website for special events, which seem to bring all of Bridgeport every weekend.
