Description: Located in the north central section of Metropolitan Indianapolis, Hamilton County was named in honor of Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. secretary of the Treasury. One of the fastest growing counties in the nation, Hamilton County was ranked as the “No. 1 County in America to Raise a Family” by Forbes magazine. Hamilton County covers 320.2 square miles and has a population of about 270,000. Carmel is one of the largest suburbs within Metropolitan Indianapolis, with a population of 68,653. Located immediately north of Indianapolis on SR 431, Carmel covers about 50 square miles and has been nationally recognized for its careful community planning and excellent city design. Carmel boasts over 800 acres of parkland and has been designated a “Bicycle Friendly City” for its extensive trail and path system. The Arts & Design District of Carmel offers wonderful dining and shopping. Currently under construction, City Center will be home to the Regional Performing Arts Center. The project will include a 1,600-seat Concert Hall and 500-seat multipurpose theater, as well as retail, restaurant, office, and residential space.
