Description: The emphasis here is on tent camping, and those who really want to get away from it all can choose a private “lug-in” tent site or opt for a reservation in the “quiet couples only” section. Both are secluded and no water or electricity is available. Campers with children are placed in a family section. Many of these sites will accommodate multiple tents. Although Paine’s preference is for tents, there are some hookup sites with water and 15-amp service; these are grouped together and suitable for tents, pop-ups, and pickup campers. Several sites have also been converted for RVs, with electric and water hookups, but there are no sewer hookups or dump stations. All hookup sites cost an extra $7 to $10 fee per day. Base rates are $40 per night for two people; add $15 per night for each extra adult and $5 per child. Larger group sites can accommodate family reunions and other small to large groups. No water or electric is available to the group sites. Reservations for any site are strongly recommended, and there is a no-pets policy. Paine’s Campground is open from mid-May though mid-Oct.
