1. Bonne Terre Countryinn And Café

City: Nesbit, MS
Category: Accommodations
Telephone: (662) 781-5100
Address: 4715 Church Road West

Description: Situated on 100 acres of Mississippi countryside, Bonne Terre is such a quiet, perfect place to get away from it all you might forget you’re 15 miles from Memphis. The colorful rooms have pretty chintz curtains, antiques, and other decorations that make them feel quaint, even though the buildings were constructed fairly recently. All the guest rooms have a private bath, fresh flowers, down comforters, and other amenities that might include a fireplace, balcony, or whirlpool bath. Some of the rooms are a bit small, however, so you might want to ask about that when making your reservations. One of the best parts about staying at Bonne Terre is eating at its cafe, which serves an eclectic menu in pretty, relaxed dining rooms. Breakfast is included with the room, but you will probably want to eat at least one other meal there during your stay. Bonne Terre is a great spot for relaxing or strolling, with its woodsy location and small lakes; there’s also swimming in summer. Don’t be surprised if you see a wedding party during your stay: With its event rooms, reception hall, and chapel, Bonne Terre has become a very popular place for weddings, corporate events, and other gatherings. Although children are allowed, Bonne Terre is more oriented toward adult guests.

Description: This gem of a restaurant is worth an excursion into Mississippi to enjoy the warm country French ambience and outstanding cuisine. Be prepared to splurge, as the restaurant serves only three- and four-course dinners. The menu includes such delectables as spice-rubbed rack of lamb, house-made pasta with lobster, and pan-seared halibut with braised artichokes. Open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner and the first Sunday of each month for its terrific jazz brunch. Beer and wine are served, and smoking is not allowed. Ask about limousine service, or expect about a 20- to 30-minute drive from Memphis. To get there take Interstate 55 to Nesbit, then the Church Road exit, and go 4.4 miles on Church. Reservations are recommended.
