The store also has all the topographic maps of New Mexico on CD-ROM. Travel Bug regularly schedules slide shows and talks by travel writers and photographers, usually Saturdays at 5 p.m. The store serves espresso bar, teas, cold drinks, and light snacks. The helpful staff can assist you in trip planning. Look for the flags of several nations and the carving of the Patron Saint of Espresso.

This locally owned grocery is packed with the unusual and exotic, but you can also buy milk, eggs, and, if you must, sliced white bread. Description: This classy shop specializes in just one thing: southwestern Indian pottery. You’ll see fine examples from New Mexico’s pueblos, including historic work by María Martínez, and exquisite work by contemporary potters. Fisher arranges her contemporary and historic pieces by area. They’re also grouped according to age and then by families, sometimes showing seven generations of pots by one family. The owner says a visit is an educational experience—we wish education was always this much fun!

Description: Santa Clara Pueblo artist Helen Hardin, who died in 1984, left a wonderful legacy of artwork, which is featured in this gallery, along with the sculpture of Gerard Tsonakwa and delicate Ácoma and Mata Ortíz pottery from near historic Casas Grandes in Chihuahua, Mexico. You’ll also find Indian jewelry at a wide range of prices. The shop’s jewelry specialty is high-quality, natural American turquoise stones in custom-designed silver and gold settings, created by their own Navajo silversmiths. It also sells pottery by Jacquie Stevens, rugs, fetishes, and carvings.
