Tulsa Artcar Weekend - Annual Events & Festivals - Tulsa, Oklahoma

City: Tulsa, OK
Category: Annual Events & Festivals
Telephone: (918)-585-1234

Description: In case you wonder what an artcar is, you’ll have to come to the festival to find out. It can be anything—but there’s an actual car in there somewhere. It can be painted or covered with who knows what or transformed into something completely different, say a telephone. It all depends on the vision of the artist. Many of the participants are from out of town—they travel to a number of artcar festivals or shows during the year—but locals are welcome to enter, also. There is an entry fee charged. It costs nothing to just watch, whether it’s the Friday night static display at the Admiral Twin Drive-In, the Saturday morning drive-around through midtown and Brookside, or the afternoon parade downtown between the Blue Dome Festival and Mayfest. After the grown-up parade, there’s a kids’ boxcar parade with prizes. The weekend ends with an artcar party with live music and adult beverages—and, yes, there’s a charge for that.
