Description: This radio station began in 1922 as WCAR. Its name was changed to KTSA in 1927 when it was bought by Alamo Broadcast Company, and the company has changed hands several times since then. One of the highlights of KTSA history was a live interview with Orson Welles and H. G. Wells in 1939, one year after Orson Welles’s broadcast of the author’s War of the Worlds. In 1956 new owners introduced a “Top 40” format at KTSA, and in 1982 KTSA was the country’s first AM station to broadcast in stereo.
