I generally have good service at Hideaway but tonight it was terrible. For one thing I made a reservation 7+ weeks ahead. We arrived and were told we needed to wait 10 minutes for a party to leave before we could be seated. However there was an empty table right in front of the restaurant and when I asked about that empty table, the hostess informed me they had 4 reservations at 5:30. Fine. Stuff happens but five minutes later a party arrived, the same size as mine, LATE for their 5:30 reservation and were immediately seated at that empty table, got drinks orders taken instantly and we were still waiting.
We sat 10 minutes at a an uncomfortable table in a corner (I couldn't pull my chair out b/c of a column) before the waitress acknowledged our presence. She didn't bring dressing for my friend's side salad and never apologized when she was reminded as she handed us the meals; asked if everything was OK and NEVER came back to refill drinks. We needed to get to the theatre and could not get her attention to get our checks and when I finally caught her eye she rolled them at me.
In the meanwhile the 10 minute late party 9seated before us even though we were there first with a 7 week old reservation) was already gone 20 minutes before we even got our checks.
I have been a regular there for the summer theatre season for years and cannot believe we were treated so poorly. The other members of my party will NOT return and I doubt if I ever will.
