Monforte produces very good cheeses, some with unusual milk-sources, eg, water buffalo milk. There are fresh cheeses as well as aged ones, and they also have some cured meats from the farmers that they deal with (the by-products of the cheese-making process are bartered with the farmers -- the farmers use what they get for animal feed.) It has an interesting funding basis: CSA, consumer supported agriculture. It's possible to help fund the operation by giving, for example, $500 to Monforte for which you receive $750 of vouchers for cheese. Monforte gets money up front (no banks needed) and you get more cheese than you'd normally get for your money -- win-win! It's a great way to support local business and benefit personally at the same time.
