Wawona Meadow

The Wawona Meadow and Wawona Meadow Loop is an area in Yosemite National Park offering scenic views, large open spaces and an easy hike in the park. The hike is about three and a half miles long and usually takes about two hours to complete, depending on how many stops hikers make along the way. Pets are allowed in the area, so you can hike with your dog, provided he or she is kept on a leash. The best place to begin the hike is at the Wawona Hotel. Hikers can stroll across the golf course onto the paved road. After passing the course, hikers should take the first left onto the unpaved portion of the fire road. This is what hikers will following around the meadow. Throughout the meadow, you will see a variety of wildflowers, many of which bloom for a good portion of the year. There are several other hikes in the area which range from easy to strenuous. Swinging Bridge Loop is another easy hike and beings at the Wawona Store parking lot. The moderate level hikes are the Wawona to Mariposa Grove hike and the Mariposa Grove to the Giant Sequioias. Strenuous hikes include the Alder Creek hike and the Chilnualna Fall hike. Each of these hikes can be paired to create a one of a kind hiking experience for those visiting the park and the Wawona Meadow area.
