Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Just A Thought About A Certain Tulsa Restaurant

Posted 01-19-2013 at 06:07 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This writer can sometimes get any kind of thought at any given time. On a Saturday morning when I'm supposed to be paying more attention to KOKE-FM's streamlining, here I go letting my mind wander.

Here's the dill, pickle: I'm just thinking about Nelson's Buffeteria in Tulsa. Last summer, I visited the legendary restaurant twice (and those were my very first visits), along with another visit to Nelson's Ranch House, and all to my personal rave reviews. ...

On The [Gr]Easy Side Of The Street

Posted 01-15-2013 at 06:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Just when I think I can wear good, new clothes and make them last a long time, it never fails that my office's management team orders food at work, and shortly thereafter, an uninvited guest would walk into my life. And, no, it isn't those previously-mentioned pesky gnats....

The funny thing is, I don't remember what it was that I ate that day, as we've ordered so many things in the last two weeks. I do know this: The visitor is a grease stain, and it resides...

Please Stand By? Turns Out I'm Experiencing Technical Difficulties

Talk about maddening. This writer is dealing with something that's as unusual as anything. Have you ever had everything else on the internet working and accessing just fine, but cannot access City-Data and get a line which reads, "Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage"? Well, that is what your favorite blogger is having to deal with at this juncture. Hoping for the best, indeed, but expecting the worst.

It seems there is a server problem on...

I-69 Update: Visual Reality In Houston, But Still A Ways To Go Elsewhere

Posted 01-03-2013 at 08:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Watching a road being built is a very long and tedious process. You need patience for this very thing. Plans are still being staked out for various segments as groups from East and South Texas gather up what will become the final plan on the Texas Interstate 69 arterial.

I can't resist, but I must share a link with you below to show what a reality this new system is in Houston. Right now, the sign in this image is limited to locations in just a stretch of the Eastex...

Songs On My Mind, Like "Baby, It's Cold Outside"

While many of us are getting those Christmas carols and songs shaken out of our systems for about another, oh, 320 days, I've got a song that is on my mind right now. I say this because this current winter in my home state of Texas is not anything like the spring-like, mild winter we had one year ago.

Haven't sung in my posts in a while. Here's goes...

Winter's too long
You just can't be wrong in stride
I really can't stay
Gotta hold
