Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Case's Vacation Journal: Celebrity Passings Through The Years

Posted 02-17-2015 at 07:06 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I'm currently at a business center inside a Waco, Texas hotel, and I'm doing wonderfully on yet another road trip. Later on, I'll have some sights to see, but first, these reflections.

Honestly, I don't know why I keep up with the following, but it is on my mind as I listen to the news. Another celebrity from the entertainment world just passed away yesterday. We lost singer Lesley Gore on Monday at age 68 after she had a long battle with cancer. And not too long...

When Flossing AND Brushing Suddenly Aren't Enough

Posted 02-15-2015 at 03:34 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

For years, I've occasionally enjoyed the pleasures of Williams Fried Chicken. They don't have many locations in my area, and the closest one is about eight miles from my apartment. I also only go and grab a takeout order about four or five times a year (considering the competition).

But today, I just had to have those weird-shaped chicken breasts and humongous wings with some fries and rolls. Delicious. So, when your writer had finished up his banquet, he had taken...

Another Road Trip For Casester Once Again

Posted 02-14-2015 at 08:15 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I know I haven't really harped on this very much, but this writer is just about to get back on the roads of Texas yet again. Monday will afford me another opportunity to see something I don't get to a whole lot.

While Waco and College Station are not new places to me, I'm taking some more time to take a bigger look at those locations in-depth. Look, I know that, for most people, those two towns will draw nothing but crickets, but I can't afford Cabo San Lucas or...

Time To Roar In Southwest Frisco

Posted 02-13-2015 at 08:08 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The moment which some Friscoans have waited for has finally arrived. While there's much more work to be done on Rick Reedy High School in southwest Frisco, Texas, students destined to be heading there have decided on the official mascot.

Ladies and gentlemen, we present the Reedy Lions.

Great job, kiddos. In fact, I had this thought that they might use that mascot name, and, so, I've speculated that they'd do it. And......................they...

Fellow Texans To Perform In The RGV Soon

Posted 02-12-2015 at 04:13 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I found this out via Charlie Monk on Sirius XM 59. It's amazing the things that I found out about while I'm eating lunch in the car, but classic country isn't dead yet, folks. Far from it.

Next week in Pharr, Texas, at the Boggus Ford Events Center, three legendary country artists are going to be together for evening of their best songs and more. Johnny Lee (Remember Urban Cowboy?), Johnny Rodriguez, and Gene Watson are all going to be on the same stage in...
