Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

North Texas May Be Getting Soaked, But It's Lake Travis Who Needs Rain

While taking care of a few things in getting ready for a second cousin's wedding tomorrow night, I'm spending Friday night in my perch inside my apartment.............and looking at weather radars on my computer. Thunder and lightning abound not far from my second-floor gathering.

Yes, it's raining tonight in North Texas. Oh, sure, we need a little more rain, but Central Texas needs it far worse. Not much rain had fallen on or near Lake Travis, and a lot of the...

Well, This NEEDED To Happen....

And I almost believed it wouldn't. But it's going to take place. It's going to after all.

Once upon a time, a key annual event in Frisco ended up being postponed because people in Texas just can't drive on ice. The Frisco Jazz Festival, a yearly music event in the Frisco (Texas) Independent School District, had to be postponed due to Mother Nature's decidedly timed deep freeze over North Texas back in February. And I had looked forward to that thing for a...

I've Got A New Fave Deejay In My Repertoire

With each passing day, I'm counting my blessings that I subscribe to Sirius XM. There is so much to offer among so many fine channels and various formats.

For a few months, I have become addicted to a music channel called 60s on 6 (Sirius XM 6). All of the jocks on there had made names for themselves in various large markets in the U.S. prior to their current gigs. Two of those had worked extensively on stations in New York City (Bruce Morrow and Pat St John). Many...

Scattershooting / Can The Astros Go Higher?

Posted 04-03-2015 at 09:22 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's another round of here and there which I like to call Scattershooting, and it's right here on Case's Column. Hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter weekend. Now, don't eat too much ham or you'll get real sick.

The Houston Astros are just about ready to take on a new baseball campaign, having come off a season where they made a 19-game improvement in wins over the previous season. Owner Jim Crane and general manager Jeff Luhnow are both...

Case Makes His 2015 MLB Predictions

Posted 04-01-2015 at 06:35 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

My gosh, it's that time again.

Major League Baseball and the fields of green are upon us one more time as another season is about to get underway. And before the boys of summer get their programs going, Ol' Case will be bringing you my annual predicted order of finishes for the teams, plus the expected winner of this year's World Series. Time for me to also go grab a couple of brats and a sodie pop, and get a good seat to view the action.

So, without...
