Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Lessons From Lemons: The Sour Truth

Posted 06-14-2015 at 07:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Sometimes, I tend to overuse my juicer for various produce. So, perhaps, your favorite blogger will have to commence to squeezing lemons to get better juice........................for my water bottles.

Look, I had just gotten bored with the liquids I've taken with me to work in recent weeks. Water is good and good for us, but water alone gets boring after it stops being cold. I had taken flavored water already made at the supermarket to work, but sometimes, I...

A Remedy For I-345: Rehabilitate It And Rename It

Posted 06-13-2015 at 10:15 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Those of you readers in North Texas have heard about or read about what the city of Dallas and the Texas Department of Transportation need to consider doing with the Interstate 345 elevated roadway in Downtown Dallas. The big question: Should it be demolished altogether and incorporated with city streets or should a new elevated be built?

This is Part 2 of my latest pondering of regional infrastructure as it pertains to my area and spheres of influence. You've got North Texas...

Dallas And Tulsa Need To Be Connected With An Interstate

Posted 06-13-2015 at 09:43 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

For the life of me, I don't know why this hasn't happened yet. I just completed a road trip to Tulsa from Dallas. To get there, I essentially had to use two different roads to get to it from the other. Right now, the only major metro in Oklahoma that Dallas is connected to with an interstate corridor is Oklahoma City.

It's way past time for a change.

In the first place, if they were going to build U.S. Highway 75 into a full-fledged freeway in South...

Case's Vacation Journal: Too Much Going On

Posted 06-10-2015 at 03:54 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Vacations, really, are supposed to be about leisure. Well, I guess I got my money's worth on this one when it comes to doing too much.

First, Ol' Case no longer has to shell out any change from his trusty pocket to either hand to an attendant or toss into a chamber (and pray that it takes those quarters) or stuff a dollar into a change machine............on Oklahoma's turnpikes. No more. I've got my TollTag from the good folks at the North Texas authority,...

Hard To Believe That "Idol" Will End Next Year

Posted 06-09-2015 at 08:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Make no mistake about it: It will no doubt be the end of an era, and not just any era, but one that may have been a little short-lived. I actually thought that this show could go at least 20 years. It will finish next spring after fifteen.

Ryan Seacrest made the announcement recently that FOX-TV's "American Idol" will cease production after next season (January through May 2016), but it will do so having been the most successful reality TV series ever....
