Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Astros Radio Guys Have Improved Over Time

Posted 06-29-2015 at 08:39 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The Houston Astros have had Milo Hamilton. They've had Alan Ashby. They've also had Brett Dolan. And they've also had Dave Raymond.

Many moons before the aforementioned, they had a chap named Harry Kalas, who manned the Astros' radio booth before he bolted for Philadelphia to make his legend.

Now, we're seeing (or hearing) what kind of legend is being made with the current radio voices, Robert Ford and Steve Sparks. Both came to Houston two years...

It's Been A Bad News Week In Washington

Posted 06-28-2015 at 04:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As if things couldn't get any worse for America, two Supreme Court decisions came down in the last week. One was regarding the Obamacare subsidies, and the other was whether or not to legalize gay marriage at the federal level. What did the Supreme Court do? Affirm both.

If you were looking for good news from Washington, D.C. in the last week, then you and I did not get it.

Sure, America's morality has declined for many years, but this is a new...

Some here, and some there. Sounds like the things we do right here on Scattershooting, and it's time for it again on Case's Column as we do every so often. Now, just sit back, relax, and get ready to take a multi-faceted look at the world around me.

And you as well....

Blue Bell's Triumphant Return From Adversity Is Awaited

Posted 06-20-2015 at 06:21 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's a shame. It really is. But, you know, every company is subject to things like this happening. If you process food products, then you'd better be sure that you have a clean, safe product that every consumer can enjoy.

In Texas, Blue Bell ice cream is the big favorite around here. For many of you out there, it is yours, as well. Right now, however, we're all in a waiting game while something crazy has happened at one of the plants, and the powers that...
