Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

A New Discovery In The Hub City

Posted 06-14-2013 at 11:13 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's amazing how one can look at several websites, take a few trips, look up reference after reference................and still miss some new things in Lubbock, Texas I haven't seen before.

This morning after breakfast, I stopped at the Grapevine (Texas, of course) Convention And Visitors Bureau and decided to pick up some brochures for various parts of Texas. Amongst the proceedings, I decided to get an updated brochure for Lubbock, and, lo and behold,...

Places I Wouldn't Mind Going To One Day

Posted 06-11-2013 at 07:26 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In my previous offering, I mentioned my vacation plans for July and how I am planning to bring them all about. ... Sorta. ... What I'd like to share next are some ideas for future trips, as there's still so much of this great America land that I still want to see.

I harp so much about Texas locales because I love this state and all that these locations have to offer. On my mind lately are some other places that I wouldn't mind taking the time to explore.

Here we are again, going here, there, and everywhere. Well, that's what one has to expect from Case's Column, what with so many things written and lots of things on my mind covered. It's time for more of what I call Scattershooting, and let's see what I've got to cover for you in this space while many of you are covering your faces with sunscreen. Needless to say, it's dang hot out there!

All Or Nothing: I Guess That Must Have Been All

Posted 06-07-2013 at 08:08 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This life event would rank among those things in life that basically came and went. I actually thought that it would be successful and that a lot of people would win. Wait a minute ---- win?? I'm talking about, of course, a lottery game from the state of Texas.

The state's lottery commission added a new game a few months ago that I thought was the coolest new idea in years and that many folks would eat it up. It was a game called All Or Nothing. When you...

I-69 Update: It's Now Official In Two Places

Posted 06-01-2013 at 05:36 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Texarkana, come on down. Rio Grande Valley, come on down. At the risk of sounding too much like Johnny Olson, the landscape of Texas highways has just changed again. The Texas Transportation Commission just made an exciting announcement yesterday that is changing the way Texans travel forever.

Interstate 369 is now official on the west side of Texarkana, taking up space on the U.S. Highway 59 freeway for about 3 miles. It will eventually become part of the spur...
