Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

case44

Wakey, wakey, everybody! Oh, boy, oh, boy! It's time for the sunrise, so let's open the blinds and take a look at the color changes. Let me get that coffee on in anticipation of that first cup of the day. Just think: We'll be going to work shortly and it's going to be a great day today, what with all that lies ahead for me. Let's look at the clock, and we'll all see that the big hand is on the 10 and the little hand is on the..........

Would You Like An Addenda With Your Fries?

Never mind that the hour was 5:30 in the morning. As a matter of fact, this morning as I write about the travails of my travels. Yes, it was, indeed, another one of my patented road trips, and it was a Saturday drive in Central Texas, some 100 miles outside of the city of Dallas. I got up extra early just so I could be in KVET's range by 5 in time for the "Country Gold Show". After the sun rises, there will be great scenes to look at, but I'll get to that some...

There are many things that are difficult to understand, and others, too hard to fathom. On the one hand, I can rejoice over living one more day and realizing every waking moment. As a matter of fact, I just celebrated another birthday. In case anyone's wondering, it's now 43.

Somebody please get the Geritol, the Just For Men, and the Metamucil on back order.

Imagine me getting closer to 50. Five-oh. Fiddy. Half a century. Can...

A Very Happy Fourth Of July, 2009

Posted 07-03-2009 at 08:25 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's that time of year once again. Time for burgers on the grill and fresh watermelon. Time for a good parade to get us all in the mood for patriotism and what we still believe in as Americans. Time to take pride in our great nation.

July 4 is upon us again for another year, folks. Take time to pause and reflect, and also, to celebrate the birth of America with your family and friends. Enjoy this weekend!

Case44's Vacation Journal: An Adventure Always Awaits

A little bit of leisure time always gives way to something. Traveling for a long length of time has a tendency to lend itself to happenings, and a few of them worthy of capture inside my memory.

And for this latest excursion in Lubbock, Texas, there are certainly no exceptions. This week has been fun, and this is a fine place to relax, unwind, and see a good sunset or two. Which, by the way, I've done so far. About thirty minutes before this writing...
